Trauma

Are you experiencing effects of trauma?

Effects of trauma, PTSD, or experiences of extreme stress include insomnia, irritability, difficulty concentrating, startle responses, upsetting memories, distressing physical sensations, avoidance of people/places/things, distress in social, occupational, or other important areas.

Effects of trauma compromise memory and consciousness, perception of self, perception of others, physical sensation, and emotional experience

Distressing emotion can be triggered by thoughts, sensations, images, people, places, or things.

A properly working emotional system is modulated in the brain and brings a sense of safety, enjoyment and fulfillment.

Trauma disrupts the brain’s capacity to modulate emotion thus leading to overwhelming feelings or numbing out.

HELP IS AVAILABLE. The brain can heal through a gentle, respectful, systematic approach to treatment that includes the integration of EMDR, Internal Family Systems Therapy, cognitive-behavioral  psychotherapies, and experiential methods.  For over twenty-four years I have successfully helped my clients through this process.

Feel free to  email or CALL ME at (410) 435.3755 for a free consult to discuss the psychotherapies that await you.
